contrasto - [2005] - sentenza/condanna di vuota comparsa

contrasto since 1995 keep fighting with their fastcore. not a simple musical band, but a way of life for their members. rooted in the hardcore-anarchopunk italian scene of the '80, they made an intense, passionate, hardcore. in this album, the speed of their music, interwines with caotic atmosphere, always stained by dark-introspective and melancholy moments. the voice is desperate and distorted, shouting as much desperate lyrics. this album ooze with emotions, ooze with real politic life. 16 songs, full of life, full of life's desire. actually one of the best hardcore italian band.

betercore - youthcrustdiscography

betercore come form holland and was a youthcrustcore band since 1997 until 2003. they made a perfect mix beetween the speed of thrashcore-powerviolence bands such as larm, infest, charles bronson, the positive attitude of straight edge hardcore , and the politic position and the dirt of crust, calling to mind bands like dropdead too.

they made a perfect sound, frenetic, adrenalinic and fast to the bone, crazy, and in some times even introspective (a couple of songs call to mind some emoviolence standards)! a perfect band that is not able to bore altough the 29 songs in this compilation!

"they sound like one of these carchases in movies from the 1970's which don't last long but destroy everything".

cripple bastards - [2000] - misantropo a senso unico

cripple bastards from asti are the grindcore most controversial band since 1988. like grindcore they are extreme to the bone. both in music and in the lyrics. politically incorrect and extreme positions about social relationship and people. in their world there is no way out. 'misantropo a senso unico' for me represents the top of their career, with their grind full rooted in the italian's 80 hardcore scene. here they attack with no brakes religions, junkies, sexist society and femminism, social relationship and every kind of dogma. it ends with the outburst of 94x flashback di massacro, a crazy mix of short song showing criptically their thoughts and their vision of the world. also the recording ooze with their claustrophobic hate, with his sound nor laminated nor chaotic, but heavy, raw, and dirty. one of the best grindcore's album ever.

municipal waste - [2001] - self titled ep

municipal waste ep is the debut ep of the richmond thrashcore band. like many of the municipal waste's early releases it's notable for his short run time: 6 tracks for only 7 minutes of pure crazyness.
already since the first song 'thrashin is my business...and business is good' we can feel the strong eighties thrash metal influence. there's no time to stop. municipal waste take bands like anthrax and slayer and mix them with the fury of the american crossover-hardcore, like d.r.i, s.s.d and suicidial tendencies. the result is a no breath ep, furious and adrenalinic. this guys are crazy, this guys are fast till death. the perfect soundtrack for wild moshpit.

la quiete - [2004] - la fine non è la fine

first album for the emoviolence-screamo forlì's band. first album after a couple of split with other international band, that throw laquiete like one of the finest band in their genre. nine tracks in 22 minutes of chaos and melodies and rage and desperation and passion. a mix beetween the ampere's chaos and the raein's melodies. perfect gloomy arpeggios paired with moments of pure chaos. intense lyrics screamed with passion, there's no emo clichès or dull poetic research. the words in laquiete's lyrics become again full of their meaning, deep and moving. they give back 'em a new life, separate by the dull and daily use.

la fine non è la fine is opened with a crescendo of feedback and come to an end with a long arpeggio. this is screamo, this is laquiete.

the copyrights - [2008] - learn the hard way

from u.sa. the copyrights are back with their fourth album, learn the hard way. since the first song we are into a no-breath trip of 25 minutes. the pattern is always the same of the other albums, pop punk with catchy melodies, and fresh singalong choruses straight in your head for hours, but this time played quicker and withouth breaths. beetween the songs there is no time to think. the sound is full pervaded of airy atmospheres, and the voices intertwines the crazy lyrics in a perfect way, that create a strange sound and behaviour that make the copyrights one of the most original pop punk band of our times.

a great album, and a great band, strongly recommended to all!

anti-cimex - [1990] - absolute country of sweden

the godfathers of the swedish d-beat. i have a thrill listening the beginning of the first track, under the sun, with his cold and melancholic arpeggio. there is nothing to say. an endless album that bewitch since the beginning to the end, every song has an overshadowing behaviour, full of cold swedish atmosphere came with the hipnotic d-beat rithm. the far and desperate voice complete the sound. i think the best work ever made in d-beat sound.

encore fou - [2000] - il numero undici

one of my favourite albums ever. encore fou was an northern italy band, they made only this album. 9 tracks of emoviolence perfectly mixed with an hardcore and diy attitude, black metal atmospheres, desperate voices, and a lot of chaos to complete the sound.

fast periods broke by claustrophobic and introspective ones, with overshadowing lyrics rooted on the torino hardcore tradition, but full of nichilism, desperation and alienation.

i can't explain with words the value of this album, you simply have to live it.

downright - [2006] - la battaglia del silenzio

one of the best italian hardcore band of our times. from genova downright comes with their first album, influenced from both italian and american hardcore of the '80.

with this album we have got 14 tracks of fast hardcore with female voice, between minor threat and negazione with thrashcore influences(disclosed by the anthrax ghost track) and political lyrics, but never slogandistic, mixed with introspectives ones.

i love this album, emotional and fast...hardcore!

dear landlord - [2009] - dream homes

Though they might be a new name to most of you out there, Dear Landlord have been kicking around in various other midwest punk bands like The Copyrights (Chicago) and Rivethead (Minneapolis) for years now. In fact, they are exactly half of each of those bands and they sound about what you'd expect if you combined the two.
Not just another pop punk outfit, Dear Landlord employ powerful stop and go rhythms with some serious guitar playing at lightning speed. The use 3 singers- all of which can sing- and have no problem keeping the listener emulating the anthemic choruses about their dismal lives. Plenty melodic but still gritty, they manage to keep the songs fun, urgent and memorable from the first note.
Take some Bay Area early 90's influence ala Jawbreaker, Crimpshrine, Pinhead Gunpowder and sprinkle in some (early period) Screeching Weasel as well as some modern day bands like Off With Their Heads and Dillinger Four and you have some idea of what these guys sound like.
For fans of all things that rock and roll. Plain and simple, this rules- whatever you're looking for this is it... (http://www.go211.com/u/tomhaugen/blogs/6016)
